How to grow a beard/moustache: When you are ready to grow a beard stop shaving completely. Do not shave at all for at least the first 3 days of growth. One of the most common errors is to attempt to start sculpting the beard too early in the process. Even if you are just planning to grow a goatee you should let everything grow for at least 3 days. WHY let your beard grow for 3 days before you start to shape it? If you don't wait, you might cut off more than you really wanted and you can always trim it down to a smaller size later.
How to clean your beard/moustache: Yes, you do have to wash it guys! Do not use regular bar soap when washing your beard. Bar soap will leave a residue (aka soap scum) on your beard, which can harden and make your beard to appear dirty. Instead use a beard scrub such as Badrick’s Mug Scrub, which will help with clogged pores, imbedded facial hair, or just moisturize dry flaky skin. Also, it’s important to condition your beard so try a product like Badricks’ Da Balm. It is a lightweight anti bacterial balm used to promote healthy beard growth while removing and healing redness and dryness due to coarse beard hair. Tea Tree oil helps heal the dry itch that beards can cause. Da Balm also prevents unwanted ingrown hairs and prevents breakouts after shaving on the most sensitive skin.
How to shape your beard/moustache: Shaping the lip line is vital. Even if you decide to grow a full out beard it is very important to trim the hairs above your lip, but not too much! The biggest mistake I see guys make is they trim the mustache line way too high. The bottom of the mustache line should be touching the pink outlining of the upper lip. If you go too high it will look silly and if you don’t trim it you’ll be nibbling on your own facial every time you eat. Gross!
How to get rid of your beard/moustache: The easiest way to dispose of long facial hair is to
use a beard trimmer or hair clipper. Use the trimmer to remove as much hair as possible (If you try to wet shave a full beard with just a razor you will clog your blades and nick yourself A LOT). Then rinse your face with warm water. After you remove your beard the skin that has been hiding under all that fuzz is going to be extremely dry and sensitive. I suggest preparing your skin prior to wet shaving again by showering in warm water before attempting to shave. So be sure to moisturize your new mug with an alcohol free aftershave product such as Proraso’s After Shave Lotion. The oatmeal extract helps in moisturizing and soothing effect, it will not disturb the skin's PH while the green tea additive is a natural antioxidant rich in polyphenols and minerals. No parabens; No silicons; No mineral oils; No artificial color.
Master Barber Tip: When shaping the line under your chin for a beard or goatee, follow line in the diagram below. This will make your chin to appear slimmer. If you do not shape the bottom line correctly, your beard/goatee could give others the illusion that you have a double chin!
